full Day Trip-

$ 130 per person

  • Day trips begin at 9:00 am and last until approximately 3:00 p.m.

  • Reservations are required in advance.

  • Required equipment includes:

    • Cowboy boots (or a boot with at least a 3/4" heel and no tread)

    • Riding or Bicycle helmets for kids under 18

    • Sunscreen

    • Water bottle

    • Appropriate clothing for anticipated weather.

  • Optional equipment includes:

    • Camera

    • Binoculars

    • Fanny Pack or Day Pack

    • Riding or Bicycle helmet for adult participants.

  • This trip includes:

    • Lunch

    • Horses

    • Tack

    • Guide

Steens Mountain Packers offers half and full day horseback rides into the spectacular alpine country of Steens Mountain. These trips start in the thick aspen groves near Fish Lake, a popular recreation site at approximately 7,200 ft. in elevation. Traveling along ungroomed trails, marked by a thousand years of deer migrations, you will pass through mahogany covered ridge tops and beautiful mountain lakes. Steens Mountain Packers specialty lunch is included on our day long adventure as well as horses and tack.

Wildhorse Canyon Trail Rides

New this year is the unprecedented opportunity to trail ride up Wildhorse Canyon. Departing from Wildhorse Ranch, this spectacular ride takes you into even more untrekked Steens Mountain country offering an unusual opportunity and views of the east side of the Steens. Wildhorse Canyon, a place the Native Americans found spiritual. You will too. Your horse, tack, lunch, and guides are included in this package.

$150 per person plus $250 group travel fee.
