"Steve Dore 1935"

French Basque ETIENNE IRIGOYEN, born November 22, 1902, came to the United States to herd sheep as a single man in 1927 from Etchebar, France on the S.S. LaBourdonnais.  He applied for citizenship at the age of 31 on July 20, 1934 in Burns, Oregon.  Later he took the American name Steve Dore and carved the Aspens under both names.  He worked for the Ebar-Elissondo sheep business on the Steens in the 1930s and then for the local mill, finally locating in California.
